Churchill Flute Band

2nd July 2009 - Newbuildings Somme Parade and Service

On Thursday 2nd July, the band attended the annual Somme Parade in Newbuildings. The Parade and Religious Service is organised each year by Newbuildings Victoria LOL 1087. It is held to remember those brave men who fought and died in one of the most bloody battles of the Great War, along the Somme River on July 1st 1916.

Having entertained inside last year before and after the service, the Band this year returned to the streets on the parade. The weather was fine and a good crowd assembled. Once again a successful evening for LOL 1087.
